Tree, rock, waterfall, rock, tree and mosquitoes…

We entered the Park through the Mariposa Grove Road and parked in the first parking lot we saw. Then we set off in search of the giant Sequoias, which are magnificent both in size and in beauty. I was pretty awestruck standing in the presence of these 3000 year old 300 feet legends of old.

On the way to the Grizzly Giant (the largest tree in Yosemite) which was a 0.8mile walk, we stopped for a perfect picture opportunity next to a fallen Sequoia. After asking a family to take a shot of us, and posing (while they tried to work out my camera) were had a two second break before being attacked (well almost) by a squirrel! Which means we were dancing around and screaming, while all the other tourists were completely amused by us. Thanks!

The whole picture, can you see the squirrel?
And now?

We continued driving through the Park, which is so beautiful, ‘til we came to park and ride where we left our car and boarded the bus headed toward Yosemite Falls. After a relatively short walk we reached the Falls which are so stunning. We also went to Bridal Veil Falls, which had a complete rainbow coming from it.

Rainbows!

Once we were done snapping pics we headed back to the bus stop where we had decided to go to the Chapel, which was supposed to be a little walk away. Unfortunately when you get lost a little walk turns into a long walk in the wrong direction past herds (is that what you would call them?) of mosquitoes, tons of freakishly tall swampy grass and … no Chapel.

So we decided the brief glimpses we had caught of the Chapel driving past, was as good as we would get. This still meant we had to make our way back to the bus stop, which we couldn’t find, so we walked around almost aimlessly (I had taken a picture of the map of the area when we walked past, so that was our navigation system.) Finely as it began to grow dark I was so glad that we found the park and ride as fears of bears were beginning to creep into my mind…

Hmmm, if there are deer...there are definitely bears!
