Let’s talk about kids…

I have this feeling that I look after the smartest cutest kids ever. I have compiled a couple of ‘gems’ straight from the mouths of babes…

This is from the boys 3rd birthday

A while ago AJ was playing in her play tent and tunnel. She asked me to join her as I was about to enter the side door she informed me I had to climb through the tunnel. Oh gosh…it’s tiny! But I tried anyway, about half way through I let out a huge sigh.
AJ then looked at me and she “Robyn, you know what Arial does when she too f…um big to go through a tunnel…she just squeezes in.” (Yes, a 5 year old almost called me fat…LOL)

I was sitting outside with Finn, when I told him I had sand in my shoes. He said, “Well it’s okay Rara cos I have sand in my pants…in my butt.” I couldn’t stop laughing!

Finn also told me excitedly that he and Braden are getting big boy beds soon. I told him I already have a big girl bed, he responded “No, only Braden and me have big beds, you have a giant one!”

Yet another Finn quip, I put my shoes on to go outside (ballet slippers or pumps) and he looked at them and said “oh those are cute shoes Rara” then looked at my top (an off the shoulder one) and said “you shirt is falling off” and proceeded to try (without much luck) to balance the front of my shirt on my shoulder.

Braden on the other hand saw the jeans I was wearing the other day (hippie inspired flower power pants) and told me “I like you flowers Rara. I don’t have pants like that. I want flower pants too.” Can you imagine?

Superhero? I think so!

As we were going outside on Monday Braden looked for the sun (which was on the other side of the house and exclaimed “Rara, why won’t the sun play with me? See, he’s hiding away now?” Aw…

Braden told me the other day (after listening to Diego's Animal Jamboree cd) that my middle name must be Robyn. I was confused as to why he thought that, then he said, "cos your name is Rocking Robyn" (Robin...like the song!) Haha. I told that, that wasn't my name and he said "No, but that's you NIXname."

Well I suppose I should give the back story to it. (Correct me if I’m wrong family)
My aunt Samantha was often asked, as little kids are, “How much do you love me?” The biggest number she knew was 5, so love in my family is now measured by 5. (This is probably a good time to tell you all that I love you 5, by the way)

So I always tell the boys I love them, and they (usually) respond that they love me too. When I ask them how much we occasionally have confusion. They tell me that I love them 5 (since I always say that) but they love me two (since there response of I love you too is now two) But the other day while I was driving Braden piped up “Rara, you know I love you so much, I love you capital 5.” Oh my, how cute is that?! Seriously!

Home Time…

A long drive home of which I was asleep for 90%, so I’m going to let Tyler fill you in IF anything exciting happened :)

Notice the trend from this trip? My passengers slept on the way there, they slept on the way back… I was left to keep myself entertained for the majority of the driving time… however she did leave out some pretty stellar highlights from the ride home… first was that we managed to stop at a KFC on the way home that was not only combined with a taco bell, but it was also a buffet… now I understand this plays into the whole fat, wasteful American deal, but come’on… its KFC!!

Slugger Field…

I know understand the concept of baseball and most of the rules…and now I have seen where they make the baseball bats! It was really cool to see the machines and how they make soooo many bats in such a short amount of time.

They even dip and dye them to created cool coloured bats (like pinks ones for Mother’s Day), they can even burn the signature of the player the bat was made for on the side of it.

As a souvenir we each received a mini wooden bat, I have no idea what I am going to do with mine…

but it’s still pretty awesome!

As a baseball fan it was really neat to see this, I use to play baseball and while I was never good enough to have my own personalized bats it was really neat to see where they are made.

Kentucky Derby…

Tyler and I headed towards the grounds of the Kentucky Derby. It was great to see the area, it was really pretty! We even found a way to get to the grounds…which apparently we weren't supposed to find since we were then followed by 3 security guards who looked ready to arrest us. Good thing Tyler is awesome at talking his way out of a paper bag! Once on the correct side of the fence we headed to pick up Kevin and Kaelyn for our museum adventure…

Churchill Downs...the home of the Kentucky Derby!

Church Hill Downs was amazingly beautiful, I am not a horse racing fan, but since our hotel was only about a 5 minute drive from the site of the Kentucky Derby I decided to go take a look and see what it was about, the guided tour was $15 a person, which is a little expensive for a non-horse racing fan, so Robyn and I decided to just take our own tour… apparently that is frowned upon…

Out and About…

In a party mood we headed to ‘Howl at the Moon’, a piano bar Tyler and I love to go to. This place is amazing the musicians are so talented! Most of the night was spent in song and dance…but we had plans for the next day, so we didn't stay out too late…

This seems to be becoming a trend for our road trips, Howl at the Moon was located in fourth street live which was a similar complex like the power and lights district that we went to in Kansas City, makes for a great atmosphere and an amazing place to spend a weekend.

Day two…Go MU…

We actually managed to wake up early enough to eat *free* hotel breakfast. Then we headed downtown to 4th street live, which is an amazing street blocked off to cars where they had big screen TVs set up, in between the bars, with live music and all that jazz. (It was St. Patrick ’s Day too.)

After lunch or should I say appetizers, which also involved beer pong, we headed to the team’s hotel to send them off.

One the way to the team sendoff I met one of the player’s (Jae Crowder) family…including Mom, Aunt, Nephew, Niece and Grandmother. It was so much fun to see everyone dressed up in their blue and gold!

Once we said farewell and good luck to all the players we headed towards the big screen on 4th street live. Ready for the MU game…which did not disappoint! Well done MU!

Celebrating MU's win!

I was pleasantly surprised by the city of Louisville, I had been through it previously but never quite took the time to look around, this wasn’t a bad trip as Marquette won and it made the drive and trip all worth it… given this was a 7 hour drive this was my longest drive to go watch Marquette play, however I have driven 4 hours before and seen them lose and let me tell you, that makes for a very LONG drive home…
